New Techniques in Lifting the Mid Face Area

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

Injecting techniques for minimizing Naso Labial Folds (the fold of skin cupping the sides of our mouth) have changed over the  last few years. The concept of injecting a Hyaluronic acid directly into the shadow of the fold has primarily disappeared . Today, we look at what causes the fold’s exaggerated appearance. This usually originates in the higher parts of our face (cheek and temple area) where there  is typical loss of collagen and fat, known as volume, and  presents as uninflated excess skin. With the help of gravity and the  loss of volume  the excess skin becomes  evident in the Naso Labial Folds, which to some can be one of the first signs of the years passing. In this practice we inject at the site of cause with a durable Hyaluronic  acid which is specifically chosen for the degree of volume loss.

Are Surgical Face Lifts a thing of the past?

Tuesday, May 14, 2013

When discussing skin laxity, in Dr William Mooney’s practice, Surgical Face Lifts are no longer the de riggeur as alternative minimally invasive procedures have become preferable for, results, recovery quality, expediency, simplicity and cost savings that can be undertaken in the Drs rooms, as opposed to a hospital which includes a general anaesethetic. Surgical Face Lift does, of course, remain possible, only, however as a last resort following injectables either alone or in conjunction with facial threads.

Facial Contouring and Masseter Reduction

Monday, April 22, 2013

A beautiful or handsome face, amongst other features, is generally defined by jaw definition. A square face with a  well defined 90 degree jaw angle is considered to be beautiful due to its appearance of strength. We have noticed that some people lose the sharpness of their beauty as their jaw’s definition extends outside the angle. This is not a structural anomaly. It is usually created from overdeveloped Masseter Muscles which originate from expressing internal tension and stress while asleep and going about the day.   It can be easy to see by intentionally clenching  your jaw a muscle protrusion can be seen.  Sometimes these muscles are asymmetrically developed . While this can be quite flattering it can alter the facial outline as well as create an aching  jawline,  particularly at the juncture, which can in turn travel into a constant headache which  sometimes requires mild pain relief.

New Acne Treatment @ Bondi Junction Clinic

Wednesday, December 05, 2012

A NEW treatment for Acne Prone Skin that does not require prescription medication or harsh acids and peels...Sebaceous Gland Ablation, is a safe and scar free treatment can now be performed at Face Plus Medispa by Dr William Mooney (Bondi Junction) by our experienced Beauty/Skin Therapist Yvonne Culhane.

Sebaceous Gland Ablation (SGA) offers acne affected teenagers and adults a non drug, permanent solution for their acne. SGA is used to treat only those sebaceous glands affected by acne. We have thousands of sebaceous glands in our skin ( approximately 1200 per square centimeter of skin to be precise ). Only a very small number of these sebaceous glands are affected by acne and breakout, even in the most severe cases of acne. These “rogue” sebaceous glands are generally enlarged when they are inflamed and can now be treated, so that the sebaceous gland is progressively destroyed. Once the sebaceous gland is “ablated” ( a medical term using to describe tissue destruction through the use of heat ), it can no longer break out.

SGA can be performed on any active acne lesion, from a lesion as small as a blackhead to lesions as large as cysts. Only active acne can be treated, as we use the breakout as a guide to finding the affected sebaceous glands. Multiple treatments are generally required to ablate each sebaceous gland ( between two and five treatments ), so depending on the number of acne and breakout affected sebaceous glands you have, it can take many treatments to become permanently breakout free.

For more information on this treatment call 1300 939 095.
